Mummy decided to
give me some pointers about choosing boyfriends. "You should learn to
talk to boys more la…" Seems like I’ve come to another stage of my
life. Hmmm…how I wish I could return to those carefree days. I didn’t need to worry about such things then.

I came from a girls school. Boys weren’t allowed in the school compounds. They were like aliens to me. The only specimen I knew was my brother. And I thought that boys were disgusting creatures. Kekeke.
My tuition classes usually consisted of my close friends. Mostly
classmates…all girls. Even if there were boys, I didn’t really notice
them. I was a really shy girl…and am still one though I think I’ve
improved.

Below are the pointers. I’ve changed the words since we spoke in a mixture of Hokkien and English.

1. He must be a Christian. It’s difficult to get along with someone with a different faith. There’ll be misunderstandings.
2. He
   must be cleverer than you. It’s hard when you have to slow down your
   mind to be at the same pace as your husband. Sometimes frustrating as
   well. Or else, your husband might feel intimidated. He might feel
   inferior to you. And that’s not good. The man should be the
   leader…not the other way round.
3. He must be kind-hearted of course. Hard working as well. It won’t do to have a lazy husband.

There
were more…but these are the ones I remember. I assured her she’ll
have to wait a while still. Am not in a rush to get into a
relationship. What a disappointment for my match-making friends!!!
Wakakaka. Hmmm…guess will leave this to God. Am sure He’s already got it all planned up for me.
