Hi. I’ve decided to keep all my posts in only one blog from now on. And so I’ll not be posting here anymore. =) C u at http://www.xanga.com/miRacL3z =P Erm…sorry guys…gotta sign-in 1st. Keke.
As promised, I’m back to relate the tale of our "motoring holiday".
Our first destination was Kota Bharu. I was looking out for elephants
all the way. (Daddy had been telling me about the day he encountered an
elephant on his way to Kelantan. That was years ago before I was born.)
I haven’t seen one wandering on the road before. Of course I’ve seen
many in zoos…but seeing one crossing the highway would be so much
more exciting. Well, there were no elephants, much to my disappointment
and to Daddy’s relieve.
At
Kota Bharu, we had lunch before meeting Peck Koon and mum. My brother
wanted KFC, but we couldn’t find any. The closest we could get to KFC
was A&W at KB Mall. Fancy having fast food at Kelantan when we
should have been trying out their local food which we could not get in
Penang!!! Haha. Peck Koon joined us on a hunt for rooms to stay. I was so happy to see Peck Koon. Three weeks had seemed such a long time to be apart. Sometimes I wonder how I would survive the 8 months of internship away from all my frenz. After
a few hotels, we decided on the chalet in Perdana Resort at the seaside
called Pantai Bulan Cahaya. The beach was unlike those we have in
Penang. In Penang, we can see land (Butterworth) on the other side
since our beaches overlook the Straits of Malacca. In Kelantan, we were
facing the South China Sea….the beach stretched for miles and miles
and the sea…it stretched beyond the horizon. The sea was very rough,
therefore not suitable for swimming.
We spent two nights in
Kota Bharu. We had dinner at a Thai restaurant on the first night and
home cooked food in Peck Koon’s aunty’s house on the second night. Her
family was so hospitable…they treated us like relatives and
immediately made us feel at home. We tried various Kelantanese cuisine
such as nasi dagang and kau jam. There were some unique fruits as well…buah katak puru, buah salak, etc. Buah salak has skin like a snake’s. Haha. Didn’t really like the smell…some sort of fermented smell.
The batik factory was very interesting as well. We watched the workers
draw the designs with only their free hands…no
stencils…nothing…amazing!!!
Our next stop was at
Terengganu. We stayed at Kuala Terengganu for one night. There, we
visited the state museum…the biggest in the whole of Malaysia. Eu
Choon just wanted to see the Batu Bersurat. Oh ya…can’t leave this
out!!! There was an ancient chest, big enough for an adult to lie in.
Brother’s itchy fingers had already started to lift the cover. Mummy
hurriedly hit his hand and the cover slammed shut. I just stood there
stunned…in my mind, I could imagine a mummy sitting up after the lid
was lifted. It was a most scary moment…I could tell that mummy was
scared stiff. She hurried my brother to the exit as he complained that
he would regret all his life not having opened the chest. "It was lying
there just waiting to be opened. Now I’ll regret all my life not having
opened it. I won’t know what’s in it. It’s not like I’ll ever come here
again you know…"
Tasik Kenyir was fun. We had a boat ride all around the lake. Tasted some Tongkat Ali and Kacip Fatimah. Tongkat Ali was extremely bitter!!! Yucks!!!
After Tasik Kenyir, we decided to head back home. Trying a new road
back, we suddenly realised we were lost. (Well, I thought we were
lost…though Daddy didn’t.) There were miles and miles of oil palm
plantation on both sides of the road and not a single person in sight.
The road had not been officially opened to the public yet but we were
allowed to pass. There were no road signs anywhere, thus we had no idea
where we were heading. And it was scary… To cut the whole story
short, we reached Cameron Highlands at 9pm. Fancy ending up in Cameron
Highlands!!! Haha. That’s some adventure for you.
It was trully a motoring holiday…5 states in total…Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Perak.
I’m back!!! But I’m extremely tired…so will update you on my holiday tomorrow.
I’m waiting for Mummy to return home from her CG leaders’ meeting, say
goodnight, and go straight to bed where my beloved bolster is waiting
for me. I don’t care how smelly or dirty or old Mummy says it is…it’s
still the best!!! (It’s not smelly!!! Nor is it dirty. Hmph…
) Not even those brand new ones in the supermarkets can compare to my good ol’ bolster. Kekeke.
Boy…have I missed it…
The
holiday’s been exciting, scary, amusing…all in one. Guess Mummy’ll be
blogging on it tonight. Keke. So you can go read her blog 1st la.
Mummy decided to
give me some pointers about choosing boyfriends. "You should learn to
talk to boys more la…" Seems like I’ve come to another stage of my
life.
Hmmm…how I wish I could return to those carefree days. I didn’t need to worry about such things then.
I came from a girls school. Boys weren’t allowed in the school compounds. They were like aliens to me. The only specimen I knew was my brother. And I thought that boys were disgusting creatures. Kekeke.
My tuition classes usually consisted of my close friends. Mostly
classmates…all girls. Even if there were boys, I didn’t really notice
them. I was a really shy girl…and am still one though I think I’ve
improved.
Below are the pointers. I’ve changed the words since we spoke in a mixture of Hokkien and English.
There
were more…but these are the ones I remember. I assured her she’ll
have to wait a while still. Am not in a rush to get into a
relationship. What a disappointment for my match-making friends!!!
Wakakaka.
Hmmm…guess will leave this to God. Am sure He’s already got it all planned up for me.
We hiked up Penang Hill yesterday morning. We went via Moon Gate. The hike started off at half past nine. Here’s what happened…
First five minutes: I can do it!!! Anyway, I hiked more than halfway up Bukit Keledang with my friends last
semester. This seems easier than Bukit
Keledang. (After Koonie’s encouraging message
the night before. "You sure can wan la. You
could hike up Bukit Keledang wat…")
After ten minutes: The hives
which decided to pop out all over my body that morning started to itch
terribly. I was sweating
profusely.
Half an hour later: Ahhh….How long more to the top? I see never-ending flights of steps. I’m gonna die…..
One
hour later: Finally I get to sit down. We reached station no. 5.
Still not halfway up yet though… But we
were already very high up.
An hour and a half: Yay!!! It’s much easier now!!!
Brother’s complaining though… "You have to walk much
faster or we’ll never reach there."
"She’s walking as if she’s in a shopping mall", was
Mummy’s reply. Haiyoyo…it’s so difficult to please
these people. Just enjoy the scenery
laaa…
At
1130am: The ground is muddy and slippery ‘coz of the rain. My
lovely pink and blue shoes are covered
with mud…
"Hey…why are we going down??? We’re supposed to be going up."
12 noon: Yay!!! Finally reached the halfway point where the track joins with the tar road.
No more
energy to climb up. Down we go!!!
1230pm:
Going down was much tougher than going up. The road was
slanted at around 70 degrees. "If
only I had a skateboard on which I could sit and slide all the
way down the slope."
Brother replied, "You’ll slide down the cliff and die la."
1pm: It started to rain. We hurried down as fast as we could.
130pm:
Flat ground could not have been more wonderful. Brother
drove us to Swatow Lane for lunch.
’Twas like a roller coaster ride. Scary…
Had a chicken pie and cendol.
Went
home and weighed myself. Thought I must’ve lost 5 kg after that tiring
hike. But Mr. Weighing Scale showed that I had only lost 1kg. Haih…
Kekeke.
Just came back from
Pangkor island. Think I’m a shade darker despite the large amount of
sunblock I applied on my skin. My face is definitely redder. Hehe.
Had a really fun time there. Stayed in a chalet at Teluk Dalam…a cove
located ten minutes from town. Had to take a taxi whenever we wanted to
get anywhere as the roads were really hilly. Don’t think cycling is
even possible in that area. Was really excited whenever we spotted a
hornbill. Mum and bro weren’t interested though.
Stayed
there for 3 days and 2 nights. Went snorkelling on the second day. It
wasn’t really snorkelling. We had the equipments minus the oxigen tank
since the water was at most two meters deep. The fishes were simply
lovely!!! I enjoyed swimming among
above them. Had on a life jacket. Everyone looked kinda funny with
their heads in the water and their jackets floating on the surface.
There were corals and sea cucumbers on the sea bed. As I was in the
water, different schools of fishes would swim past. The most common
ones were those blue and yellow ones with black stripes. And then there
was this one big bright purple fish with spots of yellow green and blue
and red!!! It was so colourful and…bright!!! ‘Twas lovely!!! Couldn’t find it again no matter how hard I searched.
But that moment was wonderful…til…I spotted a big jellyfish near my feet.
Gathering all my strength, I hurriedly swam to shore. Was the fastest
I’d swam!!! Thank God I had been looking out for jellyfish when I was
in the water. Didn’t want to be stung by one. I can’t remember being
so extra careful the last time I had been there with my batchmates
though. Guess ’twas because I had spotted two of them before
snorkelling that day.
Playing
pool was fun too!!! My brother and I formed a team against my parents.
They laughed at me as I aimed with my head almost upside down. Hehe.
Maybe that was because of writing method…with the book slanted 90
degrees. But hey…my aiming was quite accurate you know… Kekeke. Was
amusing as the guys ( brother and dad ) teased each other about
winning. Beats me why guys have so much ego. ‘Twas just a game… Haha.
We kids won on the first night and had a tie on the second. Hahaha.
Dad dropped us at the mall when we reached Penang ‘coz he had to get some stuff done. And so, me and my mum went shopping!!!
While my brother went off on his own. Bought a white dress. Am so happy~
